The Social Enterprise Accelerator Malaysia (SEAM) programme is a partnership by Biji-biji Initiative and IKEA Social Entrepreneurship, supported by IKEA Malaysia. SEAM supports Malaysian social enterprises through tailored capacity building mentorship, and advocacy. Over four years, the programme will support 20 social enterprises in two 12-month cohorts, offering tailored learning, expert guidance from IKEA expertise, and a USD 400,000 funding. By addressing SE ecosystem gaps like resources and scalability, SEAM fosters sustainable growth and amplifies impact. This initiative aims to foster an inclusive ecosystem, enabling social enterprises to tackle social and environmental challenges while promoting a sustainable future for Malaysia.
Malaysia’s social enterprise ecosystem encounters challenges such as limited funding, capacity-building gaps, and collaboration opportunities. SEAM seeks to address these gaps by offering tailored mentorship, strategic support, and funding to help social enterprises achieve sustainable growth. With a focus on both urban and rural areas, SEAM aligns with Malaysia’s Social Entrepreneurship Blueprint 2030 to encourage innovation and meaningful change. Through this programme, SEAM aspires to facilitate in strengthening the ecosystem and support social enterprises in their efforts to drive sustainable development and create positive community impact.
